This month, the South African Government launched the Sign Language Charter. The charter compels all government departments & the private sectors alike to make provisions for South African Sign Language (SASL) interpreting and access to services for Deaf persons in public spaces.

BURSARY APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2021 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE NOW OPEN.

The REAH Educational Bursary Programme wants to invest a total of R40 000 on two (2) Deaf candidates who wish to study a course(s) of their choice and make that dream come true!

Requirements: South African citizen, proof of acceptance at a registered South African university, 18-30 years old.

To qualify for the bursary write an essay (maximum 500 words) on the following questions:

  1. Why do you want to study the course of your choice?
  2. How will your studies help the Deaf Community?

The bursary will pay for tuition fees, textbooks and small allowance for living expenses.

Each candidate will receive up to R20 000 bursary per annum.
